I've been to a few different float studies in Edmonton and I absolutely loved this one. The whole experience was fantastic from the intro video, the individual float rooms which have great layouts to the tanks themselves. Love the lighting within the tanks and music that plays you out of your session. Dealt with JP (co-founder) and he was an absolute gem. Can't wait to go back here for my next float.read more

Matt and JP are an inspiration. They have a remarkable story, and if you haven't heard it yet, you really should. I came to modern gravity for my second time floating. My first float experience was at a different place, and wasn't a great experience. Modern Gravity however was more inviting, and I love the fact that you can control the light settings from within the tank. Having control of the lighting inside the tank really helped me calm down enough to shut the lights off eventually. My wish for you is to open another studio, whether it be in Edmonton, or different city. Spread the love, and keep up the good work boys.read more

I am a first time floater and it was amazing ! Not only was the float amazing , the set up was too. These two owners have literally though of EVERYTHING to make your experience as relaxed and pleasant as possible, not mention the great energy and genuine kindness they both offer to everyone who walks through the door. Also I really appreciate the organic shampoo, conditioner and body wash and their environmental friendly approach. This is something everyone needs to try. It was a very neat experience. The staff are so lovely, it is very clean. My only problem was my skin burning from the very salty water, I had an eczema flare up before I went so it was not ideal. If you have the same problem definitely wait for the flare up to calm down because it definitely took away from my experience. Other than my own personal problem I have nothing negative to say about this place, it is simply just awesome!read more

Amazing place. Completely stress free and they are in no hurry to get you out the door. You can sit and enjoy complimentary tea after a relaxing float. The first time I heard about it I thought it was cool but didn’t expect much. I now have a membership and go monthly. It is possibly my favourite place on earth. The (owner? ) Is an awesome guy and makes you feel relaxed about trying it the first time and the second time it’s like visiting a friend. The tanks are immaculate and luxurious. The facility itself is beautiful and welcoming. The staff is extremely insightful and have all the time in the world to answer questions, give advice and help you feel comfortable on your float. This was only my second float spa experience, but I have to say that it was far superior to my first! I would definitely go back! The first time I went (to another place in Calgary) the water was too cold for me (which was so distracting) and the salt that they used felt so gross on my hair and skin. This experience at Modern Gravity was nothing like that! My hair and skin are so soft (they obviously have way better products) and the room was totally comfortable! Thanks so much!read more

The facility is so clean and new. The water is perfectly heated to body temperature. Each room has a shower to shower before you go in and after (it has body wash, shampoo and conditioner as well and towels). You'll hear soft music when your float is done. It was such a unique experience floating there. At some points I experienced a very deep relaxation, like I connected to a deeper part of myself. I definitely recommend choosing Modern Gravity if you're looking for a place to float.read more

This was the most wonderful thing I've ever experienced. As someone who used to suffer with anxiety, and struggled with carrying lots of stress I had tried everything. Meditation, yoga, massages, acupuncture, weightlifting, and it would all help a bit but nothing like this. To be fair, I don't suffer from those things barely at all anymore, but to have somewhere you can go to completely escape everything in the world was amazing. Pure quiet, darkness, weightless, absolutely nothing distracting you. It was the most peaceful and relaxed I have EVER been. I highly reccomend this to everyone. On top of that the facilities are immaculately clean and the owners are super friendly genuine guys. They've truly thought of every single little thing with this company. I wouldn't reccomend anyone else.read more

I bought the 3 float package without any experience with it. I went the first time and found it just wasn't for me. (Just my personal opinion.) I injured my arm this week and thought maybe the salt water would help. Went back, as soon as I started floating the injury started to get worse. I decided to try and ride it out, but it kept getting more and more painful. So after about 15 minutes I got out. Showered and went to the front. The young lady at the counter asked me if everything was OK. I told her my situation. She was very sympathetic and empathetic. Then she said, we are not going to charge for this time. I insisted they do and she said no. The staff in here are externally friendly. If floating is your thing, go to this place.read more

I absolutely love to float here.Staff is always friendly and welcoming. They have such a beautiful setup!The float rooms are spacious and the lighting inside while you float is amazing. I personally enjoy being able to switch between the undeglo, Star light and complete darkness. Showers are easy to use. And you HAVE to try their hair dryer. It's a Dyson, and its my favorite! Morning floats are my ideal time, but I can imagine how great it would feel to do a late float before bed. Also - I appreciate that they have delicious teas to choose from & a cozy hangout space pre or post float. I need to look into their monthly membership, because I'd love to float more than once and awhile.read more

I've been a floater for many years now and have gotten a variety of positive benefits for my mind, muscles, memory, sleep, energy, anxiety, hair & skin, focus, stress levels, and overall wellness. Before I started floating I was so nervous and skeptical of the concept/idea of it but once I opened my mind to it, it's now my favorite way to relax. If you're on the fence about floating; just do it!! You won't regret it. I've been to another float place in yeg and I 100% prefer Modern Gravity over it. Clean and well built personal areas complete with friendly staff.The air inside the float area was a bit muggy and hot, but overall a very relaxing experience.If you commonly get motion sickness, this might not be your thing. While it was relaxing and enjoyable, it knocked out my equilibrium for 2-3 days and I was pretty sick afterwards. The only way to overcome motion sickness is to build up an immunity to it, so this is as good a way as any.The waiting room has some good couches and a nice choice of teas for you to sit and relax for a bit after the float.If floating is your thing, this is a good place to float.read more

I'm an avid floater and I have been to multiple facilities around the city. Today was my first time at Modern Gravity and I'm blown away. Right away you can tell that they have put a lot of thought into the facility, down to every small detail. Its very clean, fresh and visually appealing. My first float changed my life. So has every float since. A. Everyone asks me if its scary to be closed in. NO. I imagine it is what it feels like to drift in open space but still feel grounded. Also after talking to JT or Matt you do feel a high level of trust in the process so if you are scared or worried but feel like this something you need open that door. B. Why do you like it? Or I feel like I my brain won't stop.... my brain is always go go go, when I float it balances my thoughts. I have always come out less stressed with resolved issues or a realistic plan to tackle the next big adventure. This is not the same for everyone but I know it focuses me and provides me a safe place to provide myself guidance and strength. C. Why here! The space is beautiful, clean, great parking, staff are chill and knowledgeable, tanks seem bigger, but most importantly the men who worked so very hard to start from basically nothing and provide an experience to our city are amazing. Their passion and compassion to all the reasons you may have to float are unquestioning. I am not a friend of anyone who works here but I know they would never treat or judge me, only encourage me to improve myself. Anyways that is my opinion and I hope if you try floating or chat with the crew to see if this is right for you. I hope you will experience the same mind opening and calming change I have.read more

Today was my first visit to Modern Gravity. To say that it was tremendous would be to understate the whole experience. First, let's talk about the people. Matt is incredibly gentle, kind and nice in manner and sentiment. He presents calm, kindness and sincere connectedness. I have met many people over the years who can repel you with one look. He's the absolute opposite. His front end staff was also incredibly kind and inviting. The facility itself is incredible. Clean, polished and peaceful. The concept is so peaceful, restful and reinvigorating. I would encourage all those who want to experience calm and solitude to this wonderfully run place. I will be back. As I told the staff member on the way out, I am going to aim for twice per month for sure. I will need to find money in my budget, but my peace needs it. I should emphasize that the pricing is absolutely fair and reasonable. Consider the investment these guys made, along with the upkeep, and my hat is off to them for bringing this incredible mental health tool to us in such an affordable and effective way.read more

Amazing service and the ability to relax with options of no, one or two lights is amazing.One must try. This experience is good to relieve stress, manage anxiety and shred some of those worries one has due to external things we can't control.There's science behind this and attendants are very knowledgeable and helpful.Grateful for this experience and have done it again since then.What's my favorite part:The space is so tranquil and you definitely feel like you're in a spa.Note:Please ensure to visit their site. Very good experience! I went here for my first float and being from 5 hours away, I was very impressed with their service. The guy at the front was incredibly kind and asked if there was anything they could change to improve. They truly care about your experience and want to make sure its the best. The float rooms were a great temperature and had everything you would need, they also have a vanity with a dyson blow dryer and all the attachments for use after. I will definitely be returning every time I am in the city.read more

What a nice float! Staff were also friendly. Facility was very clean and tidy. Based on my experience at other float places, I think a seat in the shower area of the room would be helpful, and the ability to control the lighting color in that space. A really neat place to check out. I went for my first float and wasn't sure what to expect but all the info on their website helped me understand what I'd be getting into. The tub is huge and has a tall ceiling. The videos online don't show off how big the tank actually is because I was expecting smaller and was surprised of how much room I had once I was in there. The sensation of floating is the coolest thing I've experienced. You don't think about it at all, just exist weightless for an hour. It is very well soundproofed. I didn't hear any sound from the other rooms beside mine. Recommend to anyone who just needs to escape and relax for an hour.read more

Then look no further - Gravity Float has you covered, you may spend the first 10 minutes convinced you know how long an hour really is and then you might spend the remaining time pushing off the top and bottom of the basin feeling as graceful and weightless as wall-e in that scene with the fire extinguisher. Truly a unique experience that will have you dreaming up impressive comebacks to arguments long passed and then unraveling childhood traumas you didn't even know you had. Overall a relaxing break from reality and a quiet place to escape to, especially if you have noisy roommates or sassy children. Separately - if you have been holding out on curiosities pertaining to the efficiency of the Dyson hairdryer (which they supply for a quick dry after a long float) your reservations will disappear and your willingness to sacrifice a limb to afford one will increase exponentially. 10/10 would float again.read more

I fractured multiple lumbar vertebrae about 2 years ago. I have done everything imaginable to relief my chronic pain, including cortisol injections right into the joint space to relief inflammation (which is painful and sucks). My wife made my sister and I an appointment to give it a try, and I am left speechless. The extreme pressure in my lower back is gone. I can move freely without jarring pain. My sister hasn’t been able to lift her arm above her head in months and was able to do so after our float. All I can say is thank you and I will be seeing you again soon!read more

I've been to a few different float studios before, and Modern Gravity is by far the best. Everything was extremely clean and organized. There were touch screen pads with headphones as you enter that let you watch a brief video on how to float. The do's and don'ts. Love how the float tanks almost seemed to be a room to themselves. Also, I loved the area with the Dyson hairblade, almost burnt my beard off. Can't believe how fast it dried. Can't forget about the after float tea area, nice added touch, and great selection. It's hard to believe that Modern Gravity will be 10 years old this year. I love this place! I've been floating with them since they opened. From needing to destress after a rough week to taking care of my sciatica during my pregnancies, Modern Gravity has been part of my self-care for almost a decade. Before I discovered Modern Gravity, I would drive all the way to the southside to a float spa that had clamshell-type pods. After I experienced Modern Gravity’s float “cabins” there was no going back. I haven't floated anywhere else since. The ambience is chill and welcoming. The private float rooms are cozy and calming. And I can honestly say that their European rain-style shower heads are the best way to end a relaxing float session. I can’t say enough about this place! Matt and JP are the most down-to-earth small business owners you will ever meet and I wish them nothing less than the greatest of success in 2024. Lovely place. The rooms are perfectly temperatured and clean. The tanks are big and have various light options. They provide earplugs if you'd like and vasaline to put over cuts if needed. After you're done, there is a cute little station with a blow dryer and such to get ready to go back outside. I do wish there was a second dryer, but the place is amazing regardless.read more

I was skeptical!This was my first float and I thought I might get claustrophobic or it might not be cleaned up to my standards. I did not feel claustrophobic and it was super clean! I was surprised and how much I liked it. I thought I might be bored because there’s no music, but I just shut my eyes and felt the warm water, the humidity, and just simply relaxed. I appreciated the starry lights that I could turn off if I wanted. I thought the lights were soothing. There’s not a lot of water in the float tanks- so I’m surprised at how much I floated. It’s wild! A soft song comes on to let you know your time is up. I also appreciated the towel and bathrobe provided. Overall you turned a skeptic into someone wanting to go again and recommending it.read more

Matt and JP are an inspiration. They have a remarkable story, and if you haven't heard it yet, you really should. I came to modern gravity for my second time floating. My first float experience was at a different place, and wasn't a great experience. Modern Gravity however was more inviting, and I love the fact that you can control the light settings from within the tank. Having control of the lighting inside the tank really helped me calm down enough to shut the lights off eventually. My wish for you is to open another studio, whether it be in Edmonton, or different city. Spread the love, and keep up the good work boys.read more

This is something everyone needs to try. It was a very neat experience. The staff are so lovely, it is very clean. My only problem was my skin burning from the very salty water, I had an eczema flare up before I went so it was not ideal. If you have the same problem definitely wait for the flare up to calm down because it definitely took away from my experience. Other than my own personal problem I have nothing negative to say about this place, it is simply just awesome!read more

The first time I heard about it I thought it was cool but didn’t expect much. I now have a membership and go monthly. It is possibly my favourite place on earth. This was only my second float spa experience, but I have to say that it was far superior to my first! I would definitely go back! The first time I went (to another place in Calgary) the water was too cold for me (which was so distracting) and the salt that they used felt so gross on my hair and skin. This experience at Modern Gravity was nothing like that! My hair and skin are so soft (they obviously have way better products) and the room was totally comfortable! Thanks so much!read more

The facility is so clean and new. The water is perfectly heated to body temperature. Each room has a shower to shower before you go in and after (it has body wash, shampoo and conditioner as well and towels). You'll hear soft music when your float is done. It was such a unique experience floating there. At some points I experienced a very deep relaxation, like I connected to a deeper part of myself. I definitely recommend choosing Modern Gravity if you're looking for a place to float.read more

This was the most wonderful thing I've ever experienced. As someone who used to suffer with anxiety, and struggled with carrying lots of stress I had tried everything. Meditation, yoga, massages, acupuncture, weightlifting, and it would all help a bit but nothing like this. To be fair, I don't suffer from those things barely at all anymore, but to have somewhere you can go to completely escape everything in the world was amazing. Pure quiet, darkness, weightless, absolutely nothing distracting you. It was the most peaceful and relaxed I have EVER been. I highly reccomend this to everyone. On top of that the facilities are immaculately clean and the owners are super friendly genuine guys. They've truly thought of every single little thing with this company. I bought the 3 float package without any experience with it. I went the first time and found it just wasn't for me. (Just my personal opinion.) I injured my arm this week and thought maybe the salt water would help. Went back, as soon as I started floating the injury started to get worse. I decided to try and ride it out, but it kept getting more and more painful. So after about 15 minutes I got out. Showered and went to the front. The young lady at the counter asked me if everything was OK. I told her my situation. She was very sympathetic and empathetic. Then she said, we are not going to charge for this time. I insisted they do and she said no. The staff in here are externally friendly. If floating is your thing, go to this place.read more

I personally enjoy being able to switch between the undeglo, Star light and complete darkness. Showers are easy to use. And you HAVE to try their hair dryer. It's a Dyson, and its my favorite! Morning floats are my ideal time, but I can imagine how great it would feel to do a late float before bed. Also - I appreciate that they have delicious teas to choose from & a cozy hangout space pre or post float. I need to look into their monthly membership, because I'd love to float more than once and awhile.read more

Before I started floating I was so nervous and skeptical of the concept/idea of it but once I opened my mind to it, it's now my favorite way to relax. If you're on the fence about floating; just do it!! You won't regret it. I've been to another float place in yeg and I 100% prefer Modern Gravity over it. The starlights and underwater lights in the tank make it way more comfortable. The staff here are always very friendly and accommodating!read more

I enjoyed the experience. Nice easy float. Clean and well built personal areas complete with friendly staff.The air inside the float area was a bit muggy and hot, but overall a very relaxing experience.If you commonly get motion sickness, this might not be your thing. While it was relaxing and enjoyable, it knocked out my equilibrium for 2-3 days and I was pretty sick afterwards. The only way to overcome motion sickness is to build up an immunity to it, so this is as good a way as any.The waiting room has some good couches and a nice choice of teas for you to sit and relax for a bit after the float.If floating is your thing, this is a good place to float.read more

Absolutely incredible experience. I would recommend floating to anyone suffering from depression or anxiety, it is a wonderful natural remedy to calm yourself down and feel centred again. I'm an avid floater and I have been to multiple facilities around the city. Today was my first time at Modern Gravity and I'm blown away. Right away you can tell that they have put a lot of thought into the facility, down to every small detail. Its very clean, fresh and visually appealing. The atmosphere as soon as you want in the door is very calming and relaxing. The private suites were very clean, all necessities were provided and the temperature was very comfortable. My first float changed my life. So has every float since. A. Everyone asks me if its scary to be closed in. NO. I imagine it is what it feels like to drift in open space but still feel grounded. Also after talking to JT or Matt you do feel a high level of trust in the process so if you are scared or worried but feel like this something you need open that door. B. Why do you like it? Or I feel like I my brain won't stop.... my brain is always go go go, when I float it balances my thoughts. I have always come out less stressed with resolved issues or a realistic plan to tackle the next big adventure. This is not the same for everyone but I know it focuses me and provides me a safe place to provide myself guidance and strength. C. Why here! The space is beautiful, clean, great parking, staff are chill and knowledgeable, tanks seem bigger, but most importantly the men who worked so very hard to start from basically nothing and provide an experience to our city are amazing. Their passion and compassion to all the reasons you may have to float are unquestioning. I am not a friend of anyone who works here but I know they would never treat or judge me, only encourage me to improve myself. Anyways that is my opinion and I hope if you try floating or chat with the crew to see if this is right for you. I hope you will experience the same mind opening and calming change I have.read more

I've tried a few studios around the city due to location. I've visited these guys a couple of times and their tanks are the best I've experienced. Today was my first visit to Modern Gravity. To say that it was tremendous would be to understate the whole experience. First, let's talk about the people. Matt is incredibly gentle, kind and nice in manner and sentiment. He presents calm, kindness and sincere connectedness. I have met many people over the years who can repel you with one look. He's the absolute opposite. His front end staff was also incredibly kind and inviting. The facility itself is incredible. Clean, polished and peaceful. The concept is so peaceful, restful and reinvigorating. I would encourage all those who want to experience calm and solitude to this wonderfully run place. I will be back. As I told the staff member on the way out, I am going to aim for twice per month for sure. I will need to find money in my budget, but my peace needs it. I should emphasize that the pricing is absolutely fair and reasonable. Consider the investment these guys made, along with the upkeep, and my hat is off to them for bringing this incredible mental health tool to us in such an affordable and effective way.read more

Update, June 2021: Customer service is amazing, especially compared to the lack of customer service happening during covid. Also I have been suffering with migraines and this place is like a magic wand taking my head pain away. Amazing service and the ability to relax with options of no, one or two lights is amazing.One must try. This experience is good to relieve stress, manage anxiety and shred some of those worries one has due to external things we can't control.There's science behind this and attendants are very knowledgeable and helpful.Grateful for this experience and have done it again since then.What's my favorite part:The space is so tranquil and you definitely feel like you're in a spa.Note:Please ensure to visit their site. Very good experience! I went here for my first float and being from 5 hours away, I was very impressed with their service. The guy at the front was incredibly kind and asked if there was anything they could change to improve. They truly care about your experience and want to make sure its the best. The float rooms were a great temperature and had everything you would need, they also have a vanity with a dyson blow dryer and all the attachments for use after. Based on my experience at other float places, I think a seat in the shower area of the room would be helpful, and the ability to control the lighting color in that space. A really neat place to check out. I went for my first float and wasn't sure what to expect but all the info on their website helped me understand what I'd be getting into. The tub is huge and has a tall ceiling. The videos online don't show off how big the tank actually is because I was expecting smaller and was surprised of how much room I had once I was in there. The sensation of floating is the coolest thing I've experienced. You don't think about it at all, just exist weightless for an hour. It is very well soundproofed. I didn't hear any sound from the other rooms beside mine. Recommend to anyone who just needs to escape and relax for an hour.read more

Do you ever miss the womb? Do you get excited about being wet, naked and alone with your thoughts? Then look no further - Gravity Float has you covered, you may spend the first 10 minutes convinced you know how long an hour really is and then you might spend the remaining time pushing off the top and bottom of the basin feeling as graceful and weightless as wall-e in that scene with the fire extinguisher. Truly a unique experience that will have you dreaming up impressive comebacks to arguments long passed and then unraveling childhood traumas you didn't even know you had. Overall a relaxing break from reality and a quiet place to escape to, especially if you have noisy roommates or sassy children. Separately - if you have been holding out on curiosities pertaining to the efficiency of the Dyson hairdryer (which they supply for a quick dry after a long float) your reservations will disappear and your willingness to sacrifice a limb to afford one will increase exponentially. 10/10 would float again.read more

I fractured multiple lumbar vertebrae about 2 years ago. I have done everything imaginable to relief my chronic pain, including cortisol injections right into the joint space to relief inflammation (which is painful and sucks). My wife made my sister and I an appointment to give it a try, and I am left speechless. The extreme pressure in my lower back is gone. I can move freely without jarring pain. My sister hasn’t been able to lift her arm above her head in months and was able to do so after our float. All I can say is thank you and I will be seeing you again soon!read more

I've been to a few different float studios before, and Modern Gravity is by far the best. Everything was extremely clean and organized. There were touch screen pads with headphones as you enter that let you watch a brief video on how to float. The do's and don'ts. Love how the float tanks almost seemed to be a room to themselves. Also, I loved the area with the Dyson hairblade, almost burnt my beard off. Can't believe how fast it dried. Can't forget about the after float tea area, nice added touch, and great selection. It's hard to believe that Modern Gravity will be 10 years old this year. I love this place! I've been floating with them since they opened. From needing to destress after a rough week to taking care of my sciatica during my pregnancies, Modern Gravity has been part of my self-care for almost a decade. Before I discovered Modern Gravity, I would drive all the way to the southside to a float spa that had clamshell-type pods. After I experienced Modern Gravity’s float “cabins” there was no going back. I haven't floated anywhere else since. The ambience is chill and welcoming. The private float rooms are cozy and calming. And I can honestly say that their European rain-style shower heads are the best way to end a relaxing float session. I can’t say enough about this place! Matt and JP are the most down-to-earth small business owners you will ever meet and I wish them nothing less than the greatest of success in 2024. Lovely place. The rooms are perfectly temperatured and clean. The tanks are big and have various light options. They provide earplugs if you'd like and vasaline to put over cuts if needed. After you're done, there is a cute little station with a blow dryer and such to get ready to go back outside. I do wish there was a second dryer, but the place is amazing regardless.read more

I was skeptical!This was my first float and I thought I might get claustrophobic or it might not be cleaned up to my standards. I did not feel claustrophobic and it was super clean! I was surprised and how much I liked it. I thought I might be bored because there’s no music, but I just shut my eyes and felt the warm water, the humidity, and just simply relaxed. I appreciated the starry lights that I could turn off if I wanted. I thought the lights were soothing. There’s not a lot of water in the float tanks- so I’m surprised at how much I floated. It’s wild! A soft song comes on to let you know your time is up. I also appreciated the towel and bathrobe provided. Overall you turned a skeptic into someone wanting to go again and recommending it.read more
